I worked with a team of lifeguards and supervisors to patrol the beaches in Galveston, Texas. My job was to observe and report beach and surf conditions, patrol the beach and water to detect dangerous or illegal activity, help to prevent injury and drowning, assist in the rescue of distressed swimmers, administer first aid to injured beach goers, and continuously monitored the safety conditions of my assigned beach. During my time I received several rescue and first aid certifications. This job is the best job that any high school or college student can possibly have and there are a select few who dedicate their lives to it and build a career in lifesaving and I envy those people. This position helped me learn to stay calm in high pressure situations and also helped me develop the skills needed to communicate with people from every background and many walks of life and these two things have served me immensely throughout my career in business. The summers spent here will always be the best I have ever had.
