About Alexander Godfrey

Project ManagementWith over 15 years of experience managing field conservation projects, I possess a diverse skillset and extensive knowledge in the field of wildlife conservation. In my role as Program Manager for Panthera’s Thailand Program, I developed a suite of tools and processes to facilitate effective team management, programmatic and financial planning, as well as information sharing among teams. I am currently managing and streamlining operations across field programs globally. Bridging the gap between field programs and administrative services, I spearheaded the development of the organisation’s annual conservation budget and am providing direct oversight on financial reporting for forty-one projects in Asia and Africa. Having worked in the field for over a decade, I have a deep understanding of field teams' needs and logistical limitations. This has enabled me to develop tools and systems tailored to specific circumstances, addressing language barriers, connectivity issues, and cultural considerations.Building and managing multicultural teams comprising scientists, rangers, and community members to deliver on mission objectives in challenging environments is a strength I have honed throughout my career. Moreover, having lived and worked in foreign countries for two decades, I have developed strong cultural sensitivities and fostered partnerships with a variety of organizations, local communities and indigenous peoples.Systems & TechnologyThroughout my career, I have looked for ways in which I.T. systems and other technological advances could benefit conservation. As an early adopter of SMART in 2013, I worked with local governments to train teams and implement the software in multiple national parks. I pioneered the use of GSM camera traps in Thailand to alert local farmers of elephant incursions in their crops. In my most recent capacity, I developed a bespoke online project monitoring dashboard that enables comprehensive tracking of progress and impact across the organisation’s site-based and thematic projects globally, compiling key performance indicators at multiple levels.Relationships and CollaborationsIn my experience, effective communication, both internal and external are key to achieving synergies and generating lasting impact in conservation. Throughout my career, I have developed a broad and multidisciplinary network creating synergies and partnerships across a variety of domains.

Listed skills include Conservation Issues, Research, Environmental Impact Assessment, Program Management, and 21 others.
