Member of NASA selected and funded 10-member research team that designed and manufactured an autonomous descent craft to carry data vault payloads from high altitude research balloons.Designed a folding autonomous drone capable of descending from 120,000 ft to deliver a 1 kg data vault payload to a quarter kilometer target.Utilized wind tunnel testing and computer analysis to design and analyze novel wing deployment and air braking systems.Performed SQP multi-objective design optimization, which utilized data from wind tunnel testing and mission dynamics simulations, to dimension wings.Extensively utilized MATLAB and SOLIDWORKS throughout project to aid in design.Manufactured fully functional prototype using CNC, laser cutting, carbon fiber skinning, and 3D printing.Prototype was flown on a high-altitude balloon by NASA CSBF.
