The Brookfield Rose group of 13 companies employs over 250 staff with a turnover of around £600m. The Group is one of the most successful and profitable privately held groups of companies in the UK with listings for five consecutive years on The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies To Work For, along with The Sunday Times Profit Track 100 and Top Track 250 endorsements.I was specifically hired to set-up and run the PR function for the entire group. My remit was to work with all the B2B and B2C businesses and drive PR activity for the wider group. As part of the content marketing team, I lead the group’s PR and brand positioning strategy and managed any issues/crises. Leading the team of PR professionals, we successfully positioned the group’s individual companies within their respective regional and trade media and generated national PR coverage for the group.After a few months my role diversified to include heading up the entire content management process for some of the group’s financial services and recruitment businesses to ensure that the PR, social media and content marketing strategies were relevant and aligned. In addition, I work alongside the SEO, PPC, digital and design departments to produce regular e-mail communications and promotions and ensure that all websites are delivering measureable ROI and performing to their best abilities.

I quickly progressed to a strategic position directing client accounts and managing teams at Good Relations Regional (A top 10 UK PR and marketing consultancy and the largest in the North) and formerly Bell Pottinger North.Reporting directly to the MD, I was responsible for setting the strategy and then managing the delivery of PR and marketing communications campaigns that had a measurable return on investment for leading professional services, technology, healthcare and other B2B / B2C clients. Typical results include an 8% uplift in coverage and over £300K in PR value.I shaped, managed and protected the public perception and wider understanding of my clients’ businesses using a wide variety of communications mechanisms, including media relations, thought leadership, crisis management and digital and social media.I was responsible for sourcing, nurturing and winning new business and have had significant success in this area generating hundreds of thousands of pounds in revenue for the business.Notable clients included DWF LLP, DAC Beachcroft LLP, PKF LLP (BDO), Waitrose, HS2, Axis Communications, Co-operative Energy, NHS PCTs and Trusts, British Vita and Catalyst Healthcare (Manchester) Ltd.

Worked in Cheshire Business Consultancy (CBC) within the marketing function. This was an internal department and an autonomous business unit providing a bespoke consultancy service. Reporting ultimately to the marketing director, my role was to deliver marketing-based projects to increase revenue for the Society and improve its overall competitive performance. My key achievements included:Project managing the Society’s market leading venture into the Maestro debit card market. Responsible for formulating the strategy, and implementing the entire project. Budget of £650K.Delivery of a new range of non-standard mortgage products to the Society’s portfolio. From inception, three new products delivered to market in eight weeks with a complementary marketing campaign, internal communication programme and associated literature. Target revenue of £200M for 2005.Management of CBS’ new suite of first-time buyer initiatives. To include management and implementation of internal and external marketing communications strategy. Target revenue of £94M for 2005.

Main duties were to provide total administrative / marketing support for 15 charity fundraisers. This included the processing and inputting of data onto databases, distribution of relevant literature to clients and designing all types of external marketing materials subject to charity requirements. The role also encompassed the monitoring and analysis of direct marketing campaigns. As the organisation expanded, I was also involved in PR campaigns, web design, submitting copy for the Internet and social media.
