The Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress (CSPC) created the Presidential Fellows Program in 1970 to inspire and equip college students to become civic-minded leaders that could guide our nation’s future.Today, the program continues that mission by providing top collegiate students with the opportunity to study the federal policymaking process and the inner workings of the executive and legislative branches. Over the course of an academic year, the Fellows learn about leadership and governance, hone their research skills, and engage in civil discourse with public officials, policy experts, and their peers.Since its inception, the Fellows Program has positively impacted the lives and careers of over 1,500 students. A number of our Fellows have been awarded the prestigious Rhodes, Marshall, Fulbright, Truman, and Gates Scholarships. Alumni of the Fellows Program have gone on to work as elected officials, Capitol Hill and White House staff, award-winning journalists, CEOs of corporations and non-profit organizations, senior military leaders, and university presidents.

The School of Foreign Service Undergraduate Scholars Program offers the opportunity for selected Undergraduate Scholars to work on professional projects, conduct advanced research, get to know graduate faculty and masters students, and engage in the intellectual life of various master's programs. Working directly with professors and researchers in the Asian Studies Department, Undergraduate Scholars are part of a small group focused on advanced research and important issues in the world today.

Resident Assistants (RAs) are upperclass student team members who live in the community with residents to provide peer support, programming, and other assistance as needed. They are hired through a highly selective process and receive rigorous training in August before students arrive. RAs are generally assigned to a specific floor or area, but share in providing support to all of the residents of their assigned community with their Residential Living team.As an RA in Pedro Arrupe, S.J. Hall, I ensure the well-being of 275 students, plan community events, and attend numerous training sessions throughout the year on various topics, including policies and regulations, conflict management and resolution, and leadership qualities.

The Laidlaw Scholars Leadership and Research Programme aims to develop a new generation of leaders who are skilled researchers, embrace data-based decision-making, and believe it is a moral imperative to lead with integrity. It invests in talented and motivated undergraduate students, giving them the knowledge, skills, and experience to become active global citizens and future leaders. The UK-based programme sponsors students studying at universities across the world, including Georgetown University, The London School of Economics and Political Science, the University of Cambridge, and The University of Hong Kong, to conduct research, receive leadership training, and go on Leadership-in-Action experiences to work for internationally underserved communities.As a Laidlaw Scholar, I am conducting independent, full-time research on eldercare in aging East Asia during the summer between my freshman and sophomore years. I will also attend the Laidlaw Scholars Conference and leadership-building sessions throughout my sophomore year. Finally, I will plan and go on a Leadership-in-Action project to serve underprivileged communities around the world.

The City Council Summer Internship Program is a paid internship program that connects civic-minded students with City Councilmembers' offices, where they perform research and analysis on a wide range of topics and observe the efforts of local government. As an intern lead in City Councilmember Tammy Kim's office, I developed a project with multi-faceted efforts to make business-building more equitable in Irvine, wrote memos, planned a youth conference, attended various community events, interacted with constituents, attended and spoke at City Council meetings, led a group of interns on various policy-related projects, created graphics and flyers to be distributed to citizens, and produced several guides on establishing a business in Irvine.

The White House Internship Program is a public service leadership and development program that provides emerging leaders with an opportunity to gain valuable skills while supporting the work of the White House Office and furthering the priorities of the Biden-Harris Administration.Office Duties:- Maintained contact sheets- Streamlined inventory system for office supplies- Staffed major events by guiding guests, assisting with check-ins, and escorting VIPs- Provided responses to 70+ daily inquiries from White House Staffers regarding conference rooms, amenities, access and security, and events- Digitally organized 3 inboxes, color-coding and clearing emails- Fulfilled and delivered requests for materials for special events and offices- Reserved conference room spaces and deconflicted room requests- Mailed materials to traveling teams- Organized and restocked supply storage room for easier access to materials for several offices- Placed orders for stationery and supplies based on office needs and stock levels- Assisted with furniture movement across the White House complex- Assisted with parking and badge requests and parking placards- Fielded questions and directed people to the appropriate offices for their inquiries

Project Ready, Set, Read is a registered nonprofit. As the founder and Chair of the Board of Directors, I strive to fulfill our missions of addressing the educational gap between students of different socioeconomic classes and inspiring a lifelong love for reading in young children. We are currently partnered with Thomas House Family Shelter in Garden Grove, CA, where we donate books and operate a monthly reading and writing program for its young residents. I am also working on establishing chapters in Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and high schools throughout Orange County to address the needs of those individual communities.

At the UCI Ethics Center, I led a team of interns in researching Franz Stangl and moral courage. I read numerous books and completed research on moral courage and Franz Stangl. I also compiled other interns' notes into a cohesive working paper. At the end of the internship, I created a video of student testimonials and presented our findings to the other modules of the internship that focused on different research topics.

As an intern at the UCI Ethics Center, I read literature on different perspectives on moral courage, collected data, and helped write a literature review on the topic. Additionally, I helped write a research paper on COVID-19 and ethics titled "Ethics in the Trenches: Research with Life and Death Implications and Limited Data Reliability: COVID-19." This research was presented at the University of Notre Dame's Kellogg Institute in March of 2021. It was also adapted into a chapter in Dr. Kristen Monroe's upcoming book to be published by the University of Chicago Press.
