The Urban Health Project provides the opportunity to work with non-profit organizations in the Cincinnati area who care for underserved communities. Through my work with Bethany House Services, I had the opportunity to learn about the many factors in play for families experiencing homelessness while providing extra help to the organization so that they could provide the best services possible.

Oak Street Health is a rapidly growing company of primary care centers for adults on Medicare in medically-underserved communities where there is little to no quality healthcare. The goal of the CIS is to be the personal data assistant to the provider. The CIS handles informatics responsibilities for providers during patient visits in Oak Street centers. CISs are trained to be experts in structured clinical assessments, accurate and specific documentation, population health workflows, and team based care. A major goal of the program is to facilitate efficient and effective medical care for its patients.

BIOEN 325 (Biotransport I) covers the introduction to and analysis of fluid flow, momentum, and heat transport in medical and biological systems. As a teaching assistant, I planned and conducted weekly small-group discussions, prepared review materials for students, hosted office hours, and graded weekly assignments.BIOEN 317 (Biomedical Signals and Sensors Laboratory) focuses on using computational and experimental projects to learn about acquiring, processing, and analyzing signals from physiological and biochemical origins. As a grader, I attend lab sections to answer student questions, host office hours, and assess lab reports.

Song Technologies invests in ideas. As their intern, I investigated and developed a novel idea in the paper-based diagnostics market.

Kenston Field Experience is a month long program which takes ~35 high school students around the country to learn about geology in the National Parks. During this trip, the students camp, hike, cook their own meals, and complete assignments. As a chaperone for the 2018 Kenston Field Experience trip, I helped facilitate hikes and group organization, graded assignments, and other tasks as needed.

The Yager Lab in the Bioengineering department at the University of Washington focuses on designing low cost diagnostic devices. As a member of this group, I have worked with paper flow properties, filtration, and device design. I also was one of the lab's laser curators - I helped train and test new users of our laser machine. I was chosen as a 2018 Mary Gates Research Scholar and have been selected to present at Mary Gates Undergraduate Research Symposium in both 2017 and 2018. Contributed to "An integrated device for the rapid and sensitive detection of the influenza hemagglutinin", Lab on a Chip.

Worked as a part of the FDA 510k application team to develop procedures and verify the requirements of the CT16 scanner. Wrote a program using XSLT and C# that automatically generates paperwork based on xml files.

Maintain patron safety, provide basic first aid, monitor and attend to pool chemistry at a neighborhood facility. Throughout my five years at this facility, I built relationships within the community and transferred my knowledge to new guards. Additionally, I served as the community swim coach one year where I interacted with both parents and their children to improve swim stroke and inspire a love of swimming.

Member of the Difeo Lab at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center. Conducted western blots to investigate the effects of SFRP4 and miRNA on the Wnt/B Catenin pathway in ovarian cancer and effectively taught other students western blot protocol, as demonstrated by their independent performance.

Worked in the CPR department where I helped operate the robotic manikins in advanced simulations, organized CPR certifications into an online database, completed research on the effectiveness of the types of manikins used in classes, and shadowed in various operating rooms.
