I am currently employed as a Chemist at Infineum Ltd within the Large Engines team, working to support and coordinate marine and gas engine oil and package blends and contribute to ongoing research within a large team.This role involves: meeting with customers to discuss product needs and present on-going work; communicating through wide teams in order to organise large scale blends; additive package and finished oil formulation; data collection, analysis and presentation; analytical lab testing and sample handing and shipping; and many more responsibilities.An extra duty I have taken on is working as a stock additive controller for the UK site, making frequent use of tools such as SAP and Excel to manage, quality certify and steward UK component and base stock inventory.A key aspect to working well in this role has been making and keeping a strong network of contacts able to help facilitate and keep a clear overview of every step of the product creation process.

My role as a Chemical Technician within Afton Chemical’s Analytical department saw me dealing with hundreds of new samples per week, aiming to provide efficient turnaround and high-quality analysis whilst helping to co-ordinate a lab which several staff work in.Working within this team allowed me to practice a wide array of different testing methods whilst also building notably strong relationships with customers as a result of my performance consistency, reliability and empathy with shifting deadlines and circumstances. This led me to becoming the primary analyst responsible for our filtration (ISO/SCANIA/AFNOR), demulsibility and nitrogen testing, whilst also being proficient in testing areas such as titration (TAN/TBN/KF Water), elemental analysis (ICP), viscosity (KV/CCS/MRV), density, and other physical property testing (Pour Point/Air Release/Foam testing/etc).Throughout my time at Afton, I developed a deep understanding of methods and equipment which has allowed me to consistently and frequently contribute to improving the team's processes. Notably I set up and calibrated trace nitrogen analysis from scratch, designed and carried out statistical ruggedness testing on filtration rigs, established quality control chart systems for a variety of tests, and brought about changes to filtration testing that have been applied throughout global branches.In addition to my improvements to lab processes, I also worked to improve productivity elsewhere. In my time at Afton I improved the team's communication with customers by establishing SharePoint sites for sharing key information and testing lists with them which are heavily used. I also created automated inventory management sheets and data upload systems for the team via Excel VBA which dramatically improved the efficiency and consistency of results entry, improving the quantity and quality of the work customers receive.
