I have published 7 articles evaluating medication use (drug utilization) and quality of drug regimens mostly in the type 2 diabetes population but also for those with cardiovascular disease. I have also used NHANES to teach data analytics in the core PharmD curriulum (1 semester) and as an elective (6 years). I have collaborated with pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical sciences faculty with and without PharmD and PhD student involvement as stand alone (PharmD and PhD dissertation) research projects, mentoring in elective courses or a combination of both. Other data analytics experience includes using (electronic) medical records and randomized clinical trial data to evaluate the effectiveness of various types of clinical pharmacy services on clinical outcomes. I was the lead analyst in these projects. I have secured funding to conduct a study that will give me the analytic skills to use both clinical and claims data in a high quality observational study looking at different combinations of antihyperglycemic regimens on long term renal and cardiovascular outcomes. I have expertise in conducting pharmacoeconomic studies that use Markov models and I have participated in the development of several systematic reviews that report the economic value of clinical pharmacy services worldwide and in the United States. I have been teaching pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research as a stand alone core course in the PharmD curriculum for 12 years.
