I am working in Dr. Katherine Wilkinson's Neurophysiology Lab on the Optogenetics Project and the Sympathetic Nervous System Project. Our Opto project explores the recruitment of gamma motor neurons, independent of their alpha motor neuron counterpart, which controls extrafusal fibers of the muscle. The SNS project studies the effects of sympathetic neurotransmitters on muscle spindle function. It examines the results of muscle stretch before and after receiving drugs such as epinephrine, norepinephrine, or clonidine.My newest role is Colony Management, where I monitor and maintain the health of our lab's mice colony and organize breeding pairs.

Beginning amid COVID, tutoring was conducted via zoom. To ensure the continued support of my students, I customized my sessions to each student and their needs using online platforms. After each session, student progress is recorded, and areas of needed improvement are noted to be addressed in subsequent sessions. I have had students K-5 and currently work with a student in the 6th grade, and at the junior college level, on any subject, they need assistance with.

The ISSSC is the Institution for the Study of Sport, Society, and Social Change which examines the intersection of sport, society, and social advocacy. As a student-athlete, interning with the ISSSSC has provided a framework for how I can continue to advocate for social justice through sports. As an intern, I received certification for the Conduction of Minimal Research through the CITI Program. Additionally, I worked within the Institution’s Events Team pillar which worked to organize, compile, and disseminate conference meetings conducted by the Institution via zoom into easily accessible presentations using the Adobe Create platform.
