Clinical Researcher | Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health DC Maternity Care Study - Washington, D.C. Alecia McGregor. PhD- Clinical Research Principal Investigator•As a dedicated researcher, I conducted more than 30 interviews with mothers enrolled in WIC across three Unity offices located in Ward 5, 7, and 8 of Washington D.C. The objective was to assess the repercussions of Maternity Ward closures in these underserved areas, which lack labor and delivery units, disproportionately affecting marginalized patients from low socioeconomic backgrounds. This comprehensive research culminated in the presentation of our findings titled "Deserted in the District? Exploring the Impact of COVID-19 and Maternity Care in Washington D.C." at the annual Ortho Women’s Group Research Symposium in Washington, D.C.

• Spearheading collaboration to create an at-home doula service aimed at reducing adverse pregnancy outcomes in underserved communities.• Analyzing health outcome data to support grant applications for expanding women's health initiatives and improving maternal care access.

Undergraduate Research Lab Coordinator-Uses independent component analysis (ICA) to identify & compare neuroimaging patterns in schizophrenic & control populations. -Coordinates research team, assigns roles, recruits research study participants and schedules patient fMRIs at the Georgia Tech’s center for advanced brain imaging (CABI).-Presented research at the 2018 Fall STEM Conference, Atlanta, GA.

As a resident assistant, my primary responsibility is to assess and meet the needs of the 50 residents on my floor. Other job responsibilities include working duty shifts (being on-call in case of emergency), working the front desk, conducting individual intentional conversations with every resident, ensuring emergency protocol and being a role model to my residents. Residential Curriculum Achievements-One of my RA curriculum achievements includes winning two "above and beyonds" on my RA board and my door decorations. Both semesters I handcrafted and individualized each door decoration so that my residents know how much time and effort I am putting into making something special for them. Another one of my achievements is winning "above and beyond" for the Commons A publicity team. Commons A hosted an all-hall carnival event, and I helped publicize the event by posting flyers on each floor and hanging up a carnival entrance decoration.Community Building Achievements-An achievement that I am proud of is hosting the "12th vs. 14th floor" bingo night. This floor event was able to merge two different LLC's (Honors College and Atlanta Based Living) for a fun night of music and games. RA Responsibilities Achievements-An RA achievement that I have was successfully handling a difficult duty call in regards to one of my residents when I was off duty. Although initially hostile, the situation was assessed, managed, and documented correctly and I was able to maintain a positive relationship with my resident.

I am the supplemental instruction leader for Calculus 1 Life Sciences at Georgia State University. A supplemental instructor (SI) is a student that has previously taken the course and received the letter grade A or higher, who is chosen to help administer group study. Supplemental Instruction is designed to reduce the amount of drop/withdrawal/fail of challenging courses, and the purpose of the SI leader is to help facilitate learning. Last semester I earned the score of 9.8/10 on my evaluations, and every student that regularly attended my SI course received an A+ as their final letter grade.Primary roles of the Sr. SI leader is as follows- Facilitate three hour long out-of-class sessions- Attend all course lectures- Attend SI training and meetings throughout the semester- Assist in collecting evaluative data in the course- Observe 3-5 New SI Leaders and coach them on their sessions

My internship consisted of helping the clinical research nurses by creating patient paperwork, administering IV's, taking EKG's, preparing blood/urine/sebum samples to send to the lab, assisting in multiple sclerosis diagnostic exams and recruiting patients for the placebo trials. During my internship, I was able to shadow multiple neurologists and pool patient data for research.

The teacher's assistants help administer exams, hold review sessions, tutor students who are having difficulty in the course, and answer questions in class.
