About Alex Weekes
I build and support online communities through developing a strong community strategy and even stronger relationship with the community. My career in community management started with a series of roles with online computer games, with both publishers and developers. During my time working with online games, my career highlights include involvement with the two Guild Wars World Championships, arranging Team Pandemic (then world #1 World of Warcraft PvP team) to take part in a successful Fury promotional event, and involvement in the highly successful City of Heroes Easter MiniCon 2008, as well as administering the Draw the World Together charity presence on the NCsoft booth at the Winter 2008 Memorabilia show.More recently I have expanded my experience of community management through taking on a core role in the giffgaff mobile phone services community team. During my time with giffgaff I have broadened my skills base, becoming the 'go-to' team member for bug fixing and small-scale developments of the Lithium community platform, as well as taking on overall project management responsibility for the team and external suppliers. This has culminated in a change of role from traditional community management to Community Producer and the obtaining of my CSPO certification as part of overseeing a successful transition of our team onto Agile methodologies. Following a short detour into giffgaff’s Loyalty Team, I returned to the Community team as Community Platform Manager, a role that encompasses all aspects of the technical implementation of the community strategy. I am an avid gamer and enjoy all aspects of gaming, especially the social side. While MMO's were my original professional speciality, I also enjoy console games, offline PC games, mobile games, and good old-fashioned board and card games.
Listed skills include Community Management, Mmo, Video Games, Online Gaming, and 19 others.
