Endeavour is a student-run business consulting society with a passion for promoting student entrepreneurship and turning prospective business ideas into reality. With a focus on making advisory services for new startups more accessible and widespread on campus, Endeavour helps students take their first step into the world of enterprise.Role title: Head of OperationsRole tasks:- Worked closely with the president of Endeavour to coordinate the committee and it's services- Generated progress reports for committee members and their met deliverables in aiding aspiring student entrepreneurs - Ensured operations within the society ran smoothly and efficiently - Met with prospective entrepreneurs to guide them towards procurement of first round fundingRole accomplishments:- Hired and managed a 6-person team of business analysts, marketing and events officers - Carefully guided student entrepreneurs through the first stages of a developing a business idea, from its conception to receiving first round funding- Successfully took 3 student businesses to applications for first round funding- Awarded proof of concept funding for my own businessThis was a fantastic challenge during my final year of University at York, and working closely with the committee to help develop other students' business ideas was both enriching and rewarding!

During the Summer of 2017 I had the amazing opportunity to work closely with the Matheison Music Trust. Founded in 1994, The Mathieson Music Trust UK is a registered charity that supports the education of deprived children in Kolkata, India. It is their mission to ensure that no child is denied the benefits of an education. The charity have operated for over 25 years and in that time constructed a school, distributed essential food supplies and given children hope in an environment that continually deprives them of it. Working for this incredible charity took me to Kolkata, India where I was able to experience a rich and unfamiliar culture while helping prepare students for their upcoming academic exams. Challenges included:- Studied and prepared engaging lessons with unfamiliar STEM and Humanities syllabi, which I implemented across several one-to-one lessons with students I taught over the course of my 2 week placement- Developed close working relationships with senior staff members and pupils in a foreign country and unfamiliar culture- Advanced my adaptability, preparedness and independence in a challenging working environmentI was also appointed as a staff supervisor overseeing the students' Summer project on travel around the globe, and was able to teach the children about several cities, cultures and cuisines that were new to them.Adapting to and engaging with a completely different culture to my own in West Bengal was a humbling experience that has been an incredibly important part of my personal development journey.
