I'm a software engineer with over 18 years of experience, mostly specializing in distributed systems and big data. I've led efforts across all stages of a system's lifecycle, from determining requirements through design, implementation, testing, and production deployment.I started out in the ads team, building and operating data analysis infrastructure in the critical path of Google's ads business, to detect fraudulent ads traffic in near-real time. Then I moved to the team managing one of the larger data warehouses in Google. And most recently, I worked on multi-tenant data processing infrastructure used by many teams across Google.Some of the things in common across all these projects:* We needed to handle massive amounts of data efficiently and with good performance* We needed to be resilient to failures because the cost of an outage could be significant (and no one likes getting paged at 2am)* We had stakeholders across many different orgs, so we needed to work a lot with teams in different orgs, sometimes in different countries* We had to support legacy use-cases which added constraints to what we could do
