Under the direction of Dr. Tiffany Oliver, I explored the effects of pesticide use on the methylation of DNA in over 27,000 genes and how this could be connected to the onset of several types cancers. This was done through the use of R Studio and other coding platforms. Over the course of two years, I have presented my research at Emory University's STEM Symposium and Spelman College's Research Day.

The NIH funded Pediatric Engineering Research Summer Experience (PERSE) program supported by collaborative efforts of Emory University and Georgia Tech's Biomedical Engineering Department, provided participants the opportunity to engage in translational research and clinical shadowing. As a participant in this program, my responsibilities included:1. developing and implementing a translational research project centered on developing disease-specific tissue platforms for various drug therapies.2. receiving and transporting tissue samples from recent pediatric surgeries for experimental use in the lab3. shadowing physicians in 8 different departments to understand medical terminologies and other medical practices At the end of the summer, I presented my research at Emory's Summer Research Symposium.
