• Subject Matter Expert for Penicillin control and segregation on the Worthing Primary site.• Responsible for aligning our cross-contamination controls to the site separation strategy and completing improvement commitments made to regulators. Investigating deficiencies in the existing controls and implementing sustainable improvements. • Developed a strategy and standards for systematic decontamination of site areas from historical penicillin contamination.• Provide advice and support to site teams to facilitate ongoing activities and assure compliance with the cross-contamination controls.• Acted as Site Technical Transfer Lead for the transfer of an enzyme manufacturing process to a third party. Responsible for forming an onsite team, gathering and transferring all information, supporting the third party in the assessment of process changes and providing support and advice to their commercial manufacturing campaign.

• Responsible for day to day operations within the Biotechnology Pilot Plant and leading the pilot plant shift team. Delivering a program of changes and improvements to address technical and quality issues within the plant. Ensuring the plant was ready for production when required and delivery of products on time. • Successfully led the restart of manufacturing process for an enzyme product following a challenging regulatory inspection. This role involved the planning and co-ordination activities which included extensive facility decontamination, plant readiness engineering work, significant update of quality documentation to comply with increased standards, review of all EHS aspects, ordering, testing & release of all raw materials as well as plant preparation and cleaning.

• Acted as client representative for the upgrade of a development area. Involved liaison with the Capital team to ensure a fit for purpose design and generation of key project documentation covering design, safety and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). • Responsible for co-ordinating all aspects of departmental safety as well as offering advice and support to the department on safety matters. Co-ordinated the process safety plan and liaised with other onsite groups to share lessons learnt and improve safety performance.• Worked to develop the downstream purification steps for fermented enzymes and small molecules including an immobilised enzyme to produce a registered starting material at a lower cost. Screened support resins and produced scale up quantities to support pilot plant trails.

Improved membrane CIP regimes by conducting experimental work, making recommendations and raising documentation for implementation. Monitored process trends to identify blockages and problems; subsequently worked with process owners to rectify issues. Conducted feasibility study for manufacture of key raw material on site. Involved in commissioning of new LOC prevention systems.

Responsible for designing and executing investigational experiments on enzyme and small molecule development projects. Interpreted data to draw conclusions on work done and identify next steps. Communicated results both within the department and to wider project teams. Developed package of operational recommendations to aid another site in their expansion plans.

Responsible for identifying and leading waste reduction projects across tablet manufacturing. Generated waste data to identify areas of focus and initiate improvements. Analysed scrap factors and projected savings to set budgets. Implemented performance management to drive €1.8m MUV upside. Responsible for liaising with commercial, R&D and suppliers on NPI projects to deliver milestones.

Responsible for reporting daily production figures for a secondary extraction process within a soluble coffee factory. Involved with problem identification and rectification with shift managers, technicians and maintenance teams. Took part in 24 hour process monitoring and completed 6 sigma green belt. Involved with the design of an improved automated cleaning system.
