I initially headed up the Market Manager sales team in charge of acquiring new hotel partners worldwide. This involved hiring, setting up sales processes and playbooks, coaching and managing the team. There was an opportunity to acquire hotels in a more efficient way by connecting to 3rd parties via an API and I was put in charge of starting Impala’s Connectivity Program. I explored suitable Connectivity partners and oversaw their integration, monitored performance and implemented ways to run more efficiently. In this role I worked closely with the Product-, Engineering-, Operations- and Onboarding teams. I also oversaw a team of 10 outsourced freelancers who prepared the property profiles for onboarding and I managed to reduce our failure rate from 14% to 4% in 3 months.Within the first 4 months we onboarded the same amount of hotels we previously did in 2 years. They generated nearly 70% of Impala’s bookings.

A year off filled with travelling, volunteering, learning how to code, starting a book club, moving and getting the new house ready, gardening, time to think, starting a little creative side hustle.

Based in Europe and Asia I managed teams in key growth markets such as Hong Kong, Germany, Israel, Spain and Portugal. Teams consisted of up to 12 Seniors & Market Managers, some based remotely. My markets each consisted of up to 180,000 accommodation properties.I was responsible for my market’s strategy and for delivering on growth & KPIs and developed and drove data-based action plans that lead to revenue increasing over 80% YoY, amongst the highest growth in EU. Under my leadership Iberia moved up into Europe’s top 3 countries (out of 12) which allowed us to establish an office with 5 staff in Barcelona. After opening the Berlin office, this was the 2nd time I was selected to project manage the opening of a European Agoda office and for putting a new successful team and processes in place in the market.Besides using data and analysis to determine my markets’ strategies and being in charge or Iberia’s key accounts, I had full ownership of people tasks such as interviewing, hiring and training up the team as well as holding performance reviews and ensure personal development. I have a track record of increasing teams’ morale and engagement. I managed projects involving the Programs-, Connectivity- and Operations teams that improved efficiency and profitability. I presented progress on KPIs, strategy and market growth of my destinations with the C-Suite in Agoda’s head office on a quarterly basis and with Senior Directors in EU on a monthly basis. I was also in charge of training sessions for all European offices (over 110 staff) on sales and negotiation skills.

After 2 years in the Barcelona office, I was promoted to manage the Business Development team for the Asia-Pacific region. I recruited and managed a team of 4 and oversaw our Sales and Revenue Management activities. I introduced new destinations that generated sales of up to 100k US$ per month and increased our sales in APAC’s top 12 destinations by over 40% in my first year in the position. I travelled to markets and travel fairs during 1 week per month which gave me thorough insight into the luxury and boutique hotel landscape of the region.
