As the senior administrative executive, is responsible for the planning, budget, and operations of a busy comprehensive laboratory medicine department performing well over 1.5 million tests per year using a wide variety of advanced techniques. I bring energy and innovation to the management and operations of the department. Major initiatives include a replacement of the Laboratory Information Systems, design and execution of a Facilities Master Space Plan using a Lean approach for flow, and determination of need for capital equipment in a Lean Laboratory.

As the senior Clinical Information Technology executive, I was responsible for the planning, budgeting, project initiation, execution and support of all clinical information systems. In alignment with the Chief Information Officer, I insured that the strategic clinical information needs of BIDMC were met in a timely fashion consistent with stewardship and BIDMC’s core values. I provided oversight for all aspects of clinical systems - design, research & development, project planning, systems selection, systems implementation and conversion, training, and support. I directed Medical Center-wide projects that included cultural and organizational change management, consensus building, team building, project scheduling and communications, resource planning and partnerships. Key responsibilities included vendor relationship management: evaluation, negotiation and acquisition of all clinical systems, including software, hardware and services. I managed a capital budget of $21.2 million over 2 fiscal years and reduced the total budget by 15% with no impact to project scope or timeline; managed an operating budget of $2.6 million per fiscal year. I designed and taught a Project Management Boot Camp course to train teams on how to establish project charters and work plans; develop and track schedules, resource plans, budgets, timelines and project benefits and manage issue resolution to ensure projects were on time, on scope and with happy clients.

As a seasoned project manager, lead multiple large-scale software implementation projects for Integrated Delivery Networks. I mentored and assisted client project managers with work plan development and tracking, task allocation, issue identification and resolution, conversion and interface management, system build, testing and training, procedural documentation, and operational reengineering. My goal was to always leave the client with the knowledge to continue the project work on their own. All aspects of a complex system implementation were addressed: from the planning and design phase to implementation, coordinating all training activities including the development of a training program, system and user documentation, and core competency exams. In addition, to ensure a successful transition, established and staffed a Command Center/Hotline to support all go-live and post-live issues as well as a governance structure to monitor project schedule adherence and to remove roadblocks preventing forward progress. I ensured open and seamless communication to the senior executive sponsors and project advisory boards for all projects with regular and honest status updates. My strong performance and consistent delivery of results was recognized when I was ranked nationally in the Top 20% for the E&Y healthcare consulting practice.
