I am a health systems specialist. I have been fortunate enough to act as the strategic lead to influence policy-makers within the UK government as well as the WHO, European Commission, and non-government organisations to work toward reducing health inequalities and promoting health system resilience. In recent years my attention has shifted to accelerating Healthcare’s response to mitigate and adapt to climate change. A central focus of this work is redesigning and adjusting decision-making frameworks within the NHS to include sustainability variables and I have been working with a consortium of health economists in academia and within the public sector to achieve this paradigm shift.My efforts to date include developing an award-winning comprehensive global approach to minimising system loss & waste of anaesthetic nitrous oxide and am driving a programme of mitigation to reduce NHS Scotland's environmental & financial burden associated with medicines.https://www.civtech.scot/civtech-10-challenge-8-reducing-pharmaceutical-waste
