Led the design and development of an Ultralight eVTOL aircraft concept. Responsibilities included design of the exterior, interior, and brand development. Adhering to Part 103 (FAA) was the biggest challenge of this project due to the weight restriction. Our concept leveraged lightweight materials while introducing an electric powertrain, 8 motors (4 redundant) and an automotive grade interior. To set our product apart, we implemented a fixed wing coupled with rotating ducted fans for the vehicle architecture to maximize efficiency during flight. Competitor start-ups are opting for a hover only configuration which dramatically decreases flight time. We positioned ourselves to create a more beautiful and efficient vehicle that had characteristics similar to a glider. What drew me to this role was the mission, “enabling flight for everyone”. From a philosophical standpoint, the scale in which we can effectively change how humans travel fueled my passion for this project. Opening the Z-axis on a grand scale could allow a large radius of travel, decongest our infrastructure and empower everyone to experience flight in a sustainable way. During my time as Lead Designer, I was given the opportunity to learn aviation grade development tools and took an in-person composites course to better understand carbon fiber and production techniques. I worked side-by-side with the engineers on the HopTera team to learn and construct the vehicle architecture and develop a “concept vehicle” to present to potential venture capitalists and angel investors.

In the Dodge Studio, I was given the opportunity to design and develop numerous exterior proposals to progress the aesthetics for next generation muscle cars. Responsibilities included rapid sketch development of themes and develop them in CDD and clay properties to present to upper management. During that time I was also apart of an initiative at Stellantis to further the skill set of my fellow designers by implementing VR sketching/modeling via Gravity Sketch. I was able to expand and train newcomers to subdivision modeling and build a new perspective on how to achieve automotive design in VR.

During my time in Advanced Studio, I was able to work with numerous brands such as, Jeep, Dodge, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler and Fiat. I created a diverse body of 2D design work, and collaborated closely with CDD, clay modelers and engineers to adjust aesthetics as vehicle architecture and feasibility optimization efforts began.

My Internship experience with FCA was amazing, I was welcomed with open arms and brought into an environment that was very family oriented. This was my second internship during my last year as a college student. I was apart of Jeep studio where I created a variety of themes for different ongoing production projects. In contrast to my Ford Internship, I was much more involved with the day-to-day tasks and more evolved in terms of skill set as a designer. I created a very compelling body of work during my internship in Jeep, and when it came time to present to Ralph Gilles and the other design directors, he hired me on the spot!

Responsibilities included the design and development for a future mobility concept . Worked closely with the Nissan Team and teammates Eric Stanley, Kinga Kurczbuch, and Jared Chan. Challenges included approaching conceptual design thinking in an new and innovative way, working side by side with an UX/UI designer and modeler. Development included concentrated group brainstorming, traditional/ digital sketching and 3D modeling.

During my time at Ford I experienced my first internship. It was an eye opening experience as it gave me insight to how day-to-day design studios looked and felt. I quickly acclimated and developed 2D sketches while under management. I was able to complete a project that I then presented to my manager Eric Stoddard and upper management. I am very grateful for my internship at Ford as I gained a lot of experience and learned what I wanted my future studio environment to be like.
