I am a self-employed researcher and writer working primarily in childhood, youth and digital technology fields. Recent experience centres around formal and informal learning, innovation, disability and inclusion, participation and youth work, and use of digital media. My work includes writing, research and workshop facilitation on the following projects:Play Sandbox Young Coaches - www.react-hub.org.uk/playsandbox/In Play Sandbox, academics, creative partners and young people collaborate to create new play products. My role was conducting action research to examine and support the involvement of the Young Coaches in collaborative design across the the five-month rapid R&D design process. iDEA Award, Nominet Trust and the Duke of York - www.onemillionyoungideas.org.ukUK competition and digital badges programme supporting up to 1 million young people to become digital entrepreneurs. www.futurelab.org.ukAt Futurelab, I primarily worked on the Infocow project, developing a web site that connects young people with useful resources and and information on their rights and opportunities available to them. (www.infocow.org.uk)I also worked on projects and ran workshops related to participatory design, learning spaces and young people's use of digital media.

www.kids.org.ukAt KIDS, I managed the south west region and then deputy managed a national Big Lottery-funded (£1.4 million) project working with Disabled young people to understand and improve their inclusion in leisure and youth services in 5 regions across the UK. Included development of a project web site, organising and running weekend residentials, managing and training staff, and programme monitoring and evaluation.

At Camp Fire, I managed a multi-faceted school-based program and team of youth workers at elementary, middle and high school level. The programs worked with children to support academic and life skills and service learning projects in the local community. The position involved building community partnerships, working with parents and families in English and Spanish and managing the program's budget, policies, staff and volunteers.

I taught English and science to students aged 10-15 in this private school in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. I was also the English Department Coordinator, responsible for recruiting and supporting the other English teachers at the school.
