I am an Occupational Therapist (OT) with a particular interest in older people, falls prevention and low vision. Currently employed as an OT across community and residential aged care settings, I provide home safety assessment and recommendations for equipment and home modifications for older people to live safely and independently. I am also an Army Reserve Officer, passionate about leading and developing others. Before my current posting to Adelaide Universities Regiment (AUR), I was the Adjutant at the South Australian Army Cadet Brigade Headquarters and a Troop Commander at 144th Signals Squadron. My OT and Army careers complement each other well, allowing me to use and further develop my leadership skills. I enjoy supervision and training roles including the opportunity to positively influence the performance of clients, students, soldiers and peers across both professions. I previously provided OT services for Helping Hand Aged Care and several units at Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre (HRC), including two years in amputee rehabilitation and time in senior (AHP3) positions. In my position on the Community Falls Team, I established the Falls Assessment Clinic at Modbury, as well as refined a partnership with SA Ambulance Service, both of which won SA Health Awards in 2011. I also contributed to community education and training of other professionals.During my employment at Guide Dogs SA & NT as an Orientation & Mobility Instructor, I provided mobility and other independent living skills training for people with vision impairment. As a new graduate, I worked as an OT on a rotating roster at Flinders Medical Centre.
