Organizer2016 Maclean Lecture Series Sep 2014 - May 2016The David B. MacLean Lecture Series takes place annually and is organized and run by graduate students in honour of the late Professor David B. MacLean, in recognition of his contributions to research and teaching in the Department of Chemistry at McMaster. Previous MacLean Lecturers have included Profs. Robert Grubbs (2015), Tobias Ritter (2014), Craig Hawker (2013), Fraser Stoddart (2012) and Laura Kiessling (2011).As the 2016 MacLean Lecture Organizer, I was responsible for inviting a speaker who has made notable contributions to the field of chemistry. Additionally, I was responsible for planning all aspects of the Lecture Series, from transportation and logistics, to promotions and speaker introductions, and for hosting the speaker during his time at McMaster University.

As MCGSS President, I oversee all aspects of planning, budgeting and fundraising by the society, including the management of a four member executive team. I manage a budget of over $5000 and assist in fundraising for both our society and for our annual donation to Hamilton Food Share. Key events organized by MCGSS include undergraduate lab manual sales, the Departmental Holiday Party, Chemistry Career Info Day, and the annual Departmental BBQ.
