I am an attorney whose work centers around victims' rights, sexual harassment and assault, and discrimination on the basis of sex and disability. Previously, I worked at McAllister Olivarius in London and as the director of the Violence Against Women project at the National Crime Victim Law Institute in Portland, OR, where I also taught victims' rights at Lewis & Clark law school. Prior to moving to Portland, I was a litigation associate at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe in New York City. I have strong research and writing skills. In addition to my firm work, I work as a freelance writer.I graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2004, and the University of Michigan, honors program, in 1999. I am the Chair of the Oregon State Bar's Legal Ethics Committee.

While the movement to extend basic rights to the victims of crimes - rights like being able to be present at the trial or to receive restitution for the harm caused by the crime - began in the 1970s, courts have only just begun to interpret them and give them meaning. Because of the relative newness of the field, I have been required to be familiar with many areas of law beyond victims' rights, as it is often necessary to extrapolate in order to craft compelling arguments. Responsibilities include: *Research and write amicus briefs, research papers and legal memoranda on violence against women issues such as rape shield, Title IX, stalking, and privacy. *Present at several national conferences, and many more local conferences and webinars.*Manage our organization's violence against women grant, which required collaboration with diverse organizations, planning training sessions, and fielding technical assistance requests.*Research and write on topics covering a wide range of other victims' rights issues, including restitution, the right to be heard, the special rights of child victims, and many others. *Co-teaching the victims' rights clinic at Lewis & Clark Law School.My work here is now on a freelance/contract basis.
