Alison joined Savills in 2010 and worked in their Oxford office until transferring to the Cambridge office in January 2015.Key areas of work involved the following: - Project managing a range of commercial and residential schemes on behalf of public and private sector clients through the planning application and appeal process from initial site selection through to an outcome; - Strategic site promotion through responding to public consultations in respect of emerging Local Plans/Core Strategies, Site Allocation Documents and SHLAAs; and - Researching and compiling planning appraisals, assessing sites for short and long-term development potential and making sound recommendations on key technical and design issues and appropriate development options.

Alison re-joined JMA on graduating from Sheffield University and held an increasing level of responsibility within the practice. She was able to manage her own caseload of planning applications and appeals, via written representations, with minimal supervision. She also assisted senior colleagues with more complex residential schemes through the application and appeals process which involved drafting detailed planning statements and proofs of evidence. Alison represented clients at public consultation events and meetings with officers at LPAs and developed a good understanding of the development control system. She also gained experience of land promotion through preparing representations in response to consultations on various LDF documents.

This position provided Alison with an excellent grounding in spatial planning work.Key areas of responsibility included researching various sites in terms of technical constraints, planning history / relevant appeal decisions and national and local policy designations. Alison also prepared planning appraisals on behalf of public and private sector clients and project managed householder applications and minor residential applications.
