Alison has finished home-educating 5 of her 7 kids. 2 of these 5 got full-ride college scholarships; the other three have other accolades. All are doing a great job navigating the path of young adulthood.Parenting is HARD WORK. Choosing to home-educate (which is not a choice for everyone) is ALSO HARD WORK. Alison has gained a wealth of experience in her own parenting adventure: learning from her own mistakes and learning by helping others. She's be glad to help you figure out the next steps regarding the challenges you are facing.For over 10 years, she's served as the director and president of www.bristolacademy.org, a 501(c)3 offering outstanding classes for home-educated teenagers.Pi Day Party is an event she created "from scratch" years ago. This annual event now involves hundreds of kids, and volunteers who are committed to helping students not only learn about Math, but also catch the passion of how interesting Math and all its many applications can be. Alison also equips busy parents to protect their kids in the online world; she created many resources including quick webinars and a free book.She has been teaching for decades. In 1996 she earned a national award from NCTM for her Math teaching. She has taught everything through Calculus. Alison is still co-owner of Tech Eagles, with her husband Tim. Since 2008, this amazing group of geeks has passionately and capably removed technology stress from business owners! For over 10 years Alison directed marketing and communication for Tech Eagles, honored to connect our amazing clients to excellent cybersecurity solutions. During this time she outsourced some needed tasks in teaching kids and managing a home. She has now stepped back from her job within Tech Eagles, to have more time to pursue her passion of helping other parents and their students."I hate Math!", "I hate homework!", and "I hate chores!" are common complaints from kids and teens. Alison helps parents figure out how to help their students let go of this mindset. Parents have a unique ability to help their kids embrace the excitement of the "mental weight lifting" that is education.
