My job title scratches the surface of what I do. I like to be challenged, work best when I’m busy and i’m always up for learning new skills. Hence why I take on extra responsibilities within my company like chairing the internal volunteer group, The Green Team, a group to inform and empower staff to be more sustainable at work and at home. My career has taken a somewhat unconventional route. I started out in London as a Croupier when I was 18 and got promoted twice within a year. I then moved back to Singapore where I worked at MBS (the iconic hotel with a boat on the top), before realising I did want to pursue a degree after all. While studying English Literature at university, my subjects had been interdisciplinary with the incorporation of Law, Anthropology, Philosophy and Digital Humanities. I gained experience producing Hypertext narratives using open source softwares, and began understanding ethnographic research practices. My degree paved the way for my passion, anthropology, and with that the world and it’s people became more fascinating and beautiful. So going into an insight role was a natural fit and it has been rewarding to learn more about people from all walks of life. My first role has been an incredible opportunity. Learning from some of the best in the business when it comes to consumer insights. I have developed a range of skills and ways of thinking as well as fine tuning my way of working in a large company. I enjoy my work most when I know it is useful and part of a bigger picture.
