City Year is an AmeriCorps Program that assists underserved schools with students' attendance, behavior, and course comprehension. I support a 7th grade math classroom in addition to tracking data, planning events, and working through big picture problems centered around distance learning.Outside of the classroom, City Year provides opportunities education-based trainings, professional development opportunities, and volunteer projects. On my team, I hold two roles: SEL Coordinator and Wellspring Representative. As the SEL Coordinator, I plan events and initiatives that encourage students to develop themselves into responsible, caring, young adults. The key learning objectives are not always explicitly stated, but some examples include building positive family relationships, goal-setting, self-regulation, and social awareness. As the Wellspring Representative, I am the liaison between my school team and the other 10 teams. In our monthly meetings, we address site-wide challenges and conduct Wellness Checks. These Wellness Checks survey each AmeriCorps Member to learn about their experience during service. I take these checks, analyze the data, and find trends. From these trends, I propose events or workshops that help my school team improve professionally and personally. The first Wellness Activity addressed the issue of not feeling connected to the Tulsa community by having team members share places they've been or things they have done in the Oklahoma area.

I programmed events and brought them to the diverse student body at Miami University, focusing on the Movie Series, Coffeehouse Series, and Craft Series. At this role, I coordinated the logistics, such as marketing, budgeting, and execution. I took feedback from the student community and improved the events throughout the semester.

Over the course of my summer, I met with 10 associates and engaged with 11 executives in discussions about internships, career paths, and the business model at L Brands. I worked on three teams over the 3 months of my program; Home Fragrance, Concept, and Gifts & Accessories. On the Home Fragrance team, I:- Iterated on spring collection of candles and soaps, totaling over 400 designs- Remained curious about the brand and business- Analyzed product development, both existing and in progressMy role on the Concept team included:- Fabricating full scale and brand-right examples of gifting packages- Curating potential campaign for in-store marketing- Familiarizing self with hundreds of competitor beauty products- Understanding and abstracting trends for fall and Halloween 2020- Surveying over 20 people on home fragrance preferences and fall traditions, including 4 in-depth interviews- Presenting 16 page report on Fall/Halloween 2020While working on Gifts & Accessories, I:- Abstracted data from the overall creative direction- Formed seven distinct constructions and two accurate die lines as potential box designs

I monitored studio and printer inventory, assisted in reconfiguring student studio spaces to increase learning experience, and provided a point of communication between students and faculty.

I developed a wide variety of creative assets, ranging from product/packaging design, webpage design, motion graphics, and other visual communication. I also communicated with customers and fill their needs as necessary. During my time, I helped execute a successful Kickstarter campaign for Peppermint Tech, an innovative, anti-microbial fabric blend used to create underwear. The campaign has since raised $110,000 (more than three times its initial goal) and reached over 1,000 backers. Aside from the campaign, I often built technical diagrams as instructions for manufacturing products and packaging.

I edited spreads for catalogs in order to sell product, proofread copy for products, assisted on photoshoots for product photography, organized meeting materials and booklets, and created mailers and infographics to be used as promotional tools.

I followed specified guideline set forth by company, organized workspace and products thoroughly and provided friendly and helpful customer service.
