About Alistair Cane

Axiom is a next-gen ProcureTech innovation that enables Enterprise organisations to automate Tailspend and, equally importantly, to transform the experience for Buyers, Suppliers and Procurement. Our marketPlace platform (with integrated marketSourcing), enables Procurement to set up, manage and control a closed and automated tailspend environment for all free-text, catalog and content-based categories (both products and services) across the organisation.Traditional Buying channels (S2P guided buying, S2P catalogs, free-text orders and standalone marketplaces, etc.) are simply not good enough in today’s rapidly evolving, user-focussed Enterprise world. And change is afoot!A recent Hackett survey revealed that nearly 70% of Procurement Professionals are frustrated with their free-text and current catalog sourcing model, and are looking to change. Reinforcing this, PwC estimates that 76% of Enterprise Procurement teams will be involved in a Digital Procurement Transformation Project by 2027 (up from 36% today). Increasingly, as part of this transformation, Enterprise organisations are raising the bar in terms of their targets for the automation of their Indirect Spend categories, to up to 90%.Dr Elouise Epstein, Partner at Kearney, Futurist | Technology Cynic and big Axion fan: “You guys have nailed it!! There’s literally no-one else doing what you’re doing, and I love it!!”We’re also delighted to be selected to the elite Kearney-sponsored global ProcureTech100 for 2023/4, included in The Procurement TP Techmap 2024, shortlisted in the procurement technology provider category for the prestigious 2024 World Procurement Awards, to be a shortlisted finalist in the Gamechanger category at the inaugural SeedLegals awards, awarded ‘Best Newcomer 2023’ in a global pharma’s annual global supplier awards (in which only six suppliers received awards out of over 65,000 suppliers) and shortlisted for KPMG’s prestigious UK Tech Innovator Award. My other passion in life, outside my family, is Cricket and I’ve been delighted to support Wormsley Cricket over the past few years as we've sought to protect the legacy that Sir Paul Getty created back in 1992. I am extremely grateful of the support of the wider Cricket Committee, including our Patron, Mark Getty, KBE, President Sir Andrew Strauss, OBE, and our Honorary Vice Presidents Mike Gatting, OBE and Charlotte Edwards CBE. There's a new sporting adventure on the horizon - a 10-day Sea Kayaking trip to Greenland this summer. Wish me luck!!

  • Wormsley Cricket
    Cricket Development
Wormsley Cricket Nov 2021 - Present
Sir Paul Getty was introduced to Cricket by Sir Mick Jagger, when they were neighbours in Cheyne Walk in the 1980s, when they would sit and watch Test Cricket on the television over a cup of tea!Over time Sir Paul was introduced to the cricket establishment and the depth of his love for the game can be seen through his funding of the development of the Mound Stand at Lord’s, his acquisition of Wisden and most famously, the creation of his cricket ground at Wormsley. He engaged Harry Brind OBE, groundsman at the Oval, to create a pitch at Wormsley, & his great friend, TMS’s irrepressible Brian Johnston, who advised on all matters cricket and culinary. The first game on the new ground was between two local villages that border the Estate – Ibstone & Fingest on Sun 10th May 1992. These village games continue to this day & form an important part of the history of the game at Wormsley. The Sir Paul Getty ground was officially opened on Sun 24th May 1992 by Bob Wyatt (England Captain – 40 caps) who rang the Wormsley Bell, with Fred Trueman (67 England caps) who raised the Wormsley Flag. The Sir Paul Getty XI played host to the MCC, watched by Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and the then Prime Minister, Sir John Major. To this day, the Sir Paul Getty XI continues to be a cornerstone of cricket at Wormsley with annual matches against the Eton Ramblers, the Arabs and I Zingari – teams steeped in history with true tradition close to the heart of Sir Paul.Alongside the invitational Sir Paul Getty XI matches, Wormsley plays host to a range of cricket, from private, charity and corporate days, to Representative Cricket with the ECB & National Counties.I’ve been delighted to support Wormsley Cricket over the past few years as we've sought to protect the legacy that Sir Paul Getty created back in 1992, alongside the Cricket Committee, Patron, Mark Getty, KBE, President Sir Andrew Strauss, OBE, and Honorary Vice Presidents Mike Gatting, OBE & Charlotte Edwards CBE.
