Allen's role at Taxlab is to translate strategic tax function objectives and compliance needs into cost effective software solutions and deliver through focused project management. Allen currently advises multi-national businesses and accounting firms.

As Head of New Zealand tax technology Allen designed, built and implemented the OneSource (Abacus) tax compliance software for New Zealand (company, individual and GST returns).

Allen delivered numerous other tax transformation initiatives for Deloitte and for corporate clients. His work included tax reporting automation, tax function design and rationalisation, process automation, ERP tax sensitisation (SAP and Oracle), knowledge and document management.

Allen managed and streamlined EMEA tax compliance, quarterly reporting (US GAAP including SOX and FIN 48 requirements) and control of external advisors. Allen led the tax technology procurement processes including tax reporting software and European tax deadline and workflow management software.Allen advised on tax aspects of business expansion including acquisitions and start-ups in Germany, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and the UK including structuring, funding, people and equipment.

Allen managed and streamlined EMEA tax compliance (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the UK) including corporate tax, VAT, payroll, withholding tax (royalties and interest) and other taxes (AGESSA, KSA etc) and management of external advisors. Allen managed and closed tax authority audits in the UK and Germany.Allen managed tax aspects of the integration of EMEA accounting systems, the implementation of the Taxware Worldtax VAT engine and procurement of Abacus Enterprise Corporate Tax.Allen advised on tax and legal aspects of group restructuring, including legal and operational implementation in the UK, France and Germany.

Allen managed tax compliance for direct, indirect and benefit taxes (US and UK). He completed quarterly and annual tax reporting for listed and non-listed companies (US and UK GAAP including under SOX) and advised on inbound and outbound international tax planning in multiple jurisdictions.
