Chairperson
Highland Skate Parks Association

Whilst working with this registered charity as a volunteer, and leading a project with the HSPA, to create a multi-use cycling facility adjacent to a newly constructed skate park, I also accepted and assumed the role of charity chairperson. As project lead, I had responsibility’s as follows;- To create a client brief, and user specifications for the proposed facility. - Find and contact suitable companies capable of delivering on a design and build basis.- Work with companies to design the facility, whist maximizing use of the area available for the project.- Working with local council officials in areas such as health and safety specialists, Arborists, and leasing officers.- Finding funding streams and working on applications to same.- Organizing meetings with potential funders and city management officials, to present all aspects of the project, and proposed vision for the use and maintenance of the facility.- Working through the tendering process to find the best contractor to deliver the facility for the charity.- All subsequent liaison with these various official bodies and contractors until project completion. The project delivered the first outdoor Velosolutions designed and built pump track facility in the UK. As Chair my responsibilities where extended to all aspects of running the charity, its facilities, youth coaching programs, site maintenance, fund raising, etc. This was a fantastic learning experience, and I found I could use many of the skills learned from experiences in many of my previous and current working roles.
