I am Dr. Allan Mora, a professional in the primary visual care of visual for more than 22 years. I would like to tell you a little about my career in the specialty of low vision.In October 2010, a leap was made towards specialized and differentiated service and, as a result of satisfying a concern that I had since my professional class, I carried out a professional workshop on Comprehensive Optometric Care for Patients with Low Vision, received at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Today my eye clinic is the unique place in this Region of the country to offer care to patients with Low Vision. An important service for Visually Impaired people who previously had to travel to the Capital City for a review of this type. Currently the my eyeclinic is fully equipped to be able to adequately respond to these patients, thus demonstrating the level of commitment and service to the population of the southern region of Costa Rica. Since then I have been serving children with low vision at the Pérez Zeledón Special Education School and students from the Helen Keller National Education Center from various regions of the country. I also develop my clinical practice in the Capital, San José.This passion for low vision, has led me to have a postgraduate degree in Visual Rehabilitation, carried out at the University of Valladolid, España in 2018.I enjoy transmitting and propagating scientific knowledge through teaching. At the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica school, I teach undergraduate classes and also I am part of the teaching-research team. I teach out frontier from Costa Rica, in the Postgraduate of the Universidad Galileo of Guatemala. In all those cases, the subject I teach is general low vision and pediatric low vision. Very often I attend events organized by students in this or other universities for free in which they ask me to speak about a specific topic that they want to learn of the low visión.I like to be an entity of change and high social impact; currently, I am a technical volunteer for the program Di capacidad con todos los sentidos, a program that is listened to by the different apps of Franja Visual throughout Latin America. I altruistically allocate a space one Friday per month, it is one-hour program to which I bring guests to talk about issues concerning low vision, it is aimed at professionals who want to learn more about this exciting spatiality and patients with low vision who want to go out forward.
