Within my role of Market Finance Leader at Humana, Inc., I support the Mid-Atlantic (North Carolina, Virginia) and Southeast (Georgia and South Carolina) regions from a strategic finance standpoint. The focus of my responsibilities consists of developing localized (market-based) strategies to reduce clinical trend as well as develop and foster relationships with medical providers (physicians and clinicians) to align to the aforementioned strategies.

Within my role as Strategic Consultant for Humana's Group Segment Sales organization, I led a team of associates with the focus of providing an ongoing strategic view and direction from Senior Leadership for the Sales Organization. This focus primarily consisted of leading multiple initiatives thru partnering with various areas within the company (i.e. sales leadership, account installation, account management, actuarial & underwriting, service ops/consumer exp, etc) to help shape and implement the future of the Group Segment sales organization.

Within my role as Finance Manager, I led a team of associates responsible for the financial management for several Lines of Business within the organization thru the oversight of monthly close activities, including, but not limited to booking revenue, accruals, billing, and receivables. Along with the support of my team, I provided monthly account reconciliations in relation to budget vs. actual results, which provided greater transparency for Line of Business owners regarding the P&L expenses. My other responsibilities included collaborating with the Line of Business VP and Budget Managers in developing future year targets and "long term plans" which are utilized to guide strategic direction and to analyze operational efficiency. Another requirement of my role is the management of cross functional teams regarding special projects involving competencies such as sales economics and pricing. One of my favorite aspects of this role was the opportunity I had to provide Strategic consultation for Senior Management as it relates to the overall direction for the Health and Productivity Solutions Lines of Businesses.

As a finance consultant within the Employer Group Segment, I led and managed Commercial Forecasting and Reporting team. My role consisted of acting as Process Owner of the forecasting and reporting structure that is used by the Commercial Sales Markets, Senior Management, and across corporate departments as well as the development and Analysis of reporting during the Strategic Planning & Budgeting seasons of the year. In addition to the aforementioned duties, I also acted as liaison between Senior Management and the field for the purpose of providing one line of communication for the two thru the establishment of monthly processes, report develoopment, and efficent communication.

As a financial analyst within Humana, I was responsible for the Group Medical forecasting and reporting structure that was utilized by the Group Sales Markets, Senior Management, and across corporate departments. My role also included the analysis and evaluation of the forecasts/projections submitted from the field, as well as the development of assumptions based off of the projections for Senior Management. Additionally, I developed and executed the Strategic Plan and Budgeting Processes for the Sales Markets and Senior Management which is utilized to formulate budgets by market, region, and total company. Create “Ad hoc” Reports that analyze premium yields, claims trends, loss ratios, and product margins for the Sales Markets and Senior Management in a timely and efficient format upon request. I also developed and maintained Consumerism Membership tracking report that were utilized by Senior Management to provide visibility on how productive our sales teams have been in marketing the High Deductible Health Plan product sector, as well as facilitated the reporting structures and budgeting plans for KMG and CompBenefits during Humana's acquisitions of them.

In addition to my monthly accounting duties, I collaborated with IT Dept. to create a company-wide Inventory Auditing Database that decreased total costs by 15% in the 4th quarter of 2006.
