Performed prescribed burn operations including mechanical fuels reduction with a chainsaw,firing/ignitions operations, and holding/engine operations. Burning in oak litter, tall grass, andhardwood timber understory fuel types. Remain available for wildfire deployment as well as zoneoperations. Operating as an ICT5 and FAL2.

Dinosaur Valley State Park

Manage the maintenance, sampling, and compliance of wastewater and drinking water systemswithin the park. Ensure cleanliness of park facilities and grounds. Provide customer service topark visitors. Participate in emergency response situations within the park. Assist with and leadmaintenance projects such as signage, facility upkeep, and protection of natural resources.

Cape Cod National Seashore

Performed mechanical fuels reduction with chainsaws, brush cutters and hand tools. Participatedin prescribed burns in fuel types such as timber understory, slash, and grasslands. Remainedavailable for disaster response and wildland fire suppression through the Eastern areacoordination center. Spent 7 weeks on severity responding to a handful of type 5 wildfires. Spentone week assigned to a type 2 wildfire (Calwood). Completed faller 2 and FFT1/ICT5 task books.

Tecumseh, Michigan, United States

Responsible for the maintenance of many of Michigan’s preserves; duties included usingpesticides to control invasive species, invasive species surveys, trail and signage maintenance,and native seed collection and processing. Used heavy equipment including tractor and skid steerwith various implements. Obtained a commercial pesticide applicator’s license from the state ofMichigan.

Susquehanna State Park

Served with the state of Maryland Park Service completing conservation projects and extensivenatural resource management. Work included trail construction and maintenance, maintenance ofpark service buildings and properties, community outreach, and environmental education.Participated in conservation easement monitoring, invasive species removal, and supervisedconservation job corps members.

Wellfleet, Massachusetts, United States

Regularly used power tools such as a chainsaw and a brush cutter. Participated in pile burns andprescribed burns to reduce wildfire fuels. Served primarily with Cape Cod National Seashore,supervised by the Fire Management officer David Crary Jr. Organized and managed projects with5 to 30+ volunteers. Spent more than 100 hours felling, limbing, and bucking trees for landmanagement, fuels reduction, and hazard/storm tree removal. Completed Faller 3 and FFT2certifications.

Denton, Texas, United States

Assisted in the benthic ecology lab at UNT, worked with graduate students as well as UNTfaculty, Dr. James Kennedy, in several research projects. The research projects were centeredaround the ecological health of local bodies of water as reflected by the macro-invertebratepopulation present. Learned sampling methods as well as family level identification during theprocessing of samples.
