Allison Barto is an aerospace leader specializing in helping large teams work together efficiently and effectively to solve complex problems and build unique flight systems. Allison currently supports BAE Systems Inc, Space & Mission Systems (formerly Ball Aerospace) as the Director for Defense Missions & Solutions where she is responsible for a portfolio of DoD space sensing missions including Missile Warning & Tracking and SBEM, supporting teams bringing the best technical solutions for our nation.In addition to her current role, Allison supports interests in astrophysics, in-space assembly and servicing infrastructure, and optics through involvement in various panels, working groups, think tanks, and volunteer leadership within SPIEPrior to her transition to National Defense and Military Space, Allison spent 21 years developing payloads for NASA including 17 years supporting JWST as an optical systems engineer and program manager and previously supported two Hubble Space Telescope science instruments. Allison is an SPIE Fellow and recipient of a Women in Aerospace Achievement Award and National Academy of Engineering Gilbreth Lectureship.Beyond her leadership and technical responsibilities, Allison is a frequent speaker on engineering, aerospace, JWST, STEM, and gender diversity and spent many years as the co-lead of Ball Corporation’s Women’s resource group.
