  For the past ten years, I have taught English Language Arts for the Savannah Chatham County Public School System in a variety of capacities. I have taught both gifted and special education students. I have taught in the regular classroom and as a connections teacher (reading support and gifted writing). I have taught grades 6th-8th and have led a variety of afterschool programs, including DEEP Writing, Bluford Book Club, 21st CLCC, and the school yearbook. I have served as the English Language Arts department chair, a mentor and induction program coordinator for new teachers, the school gifted coordinator, the school RTI coordinator, and a curriculum coach. I have helped writing units for the district and am trained in differentiation, classroom management, as well as in the use of technology to support teaching and learning. In March of 2016 I passed the GACE exam for educational leadership as well as all seven of the district-mandated ethics modules. My hope is to begin the next phase of my educational career as an assistant principal for the Savannah Chatham school district.
