Professionally Allison has had several callings including athletic trainer, writer, event planner, teacher and advocate (those are the only former positions she can legally reveal). She began her public health emergency preparedness career working at Gwinnett, Newton and Rockdale Counties Health Department as the Emergency Preparedness Specialist. A year later she was promoted to the Emergency Preparedness Director for the district. In August 2006 Allison joined Lockheed Martin as an Emergency Response Specialist embedded at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Strategic National Stockpile (DSNS) Response Branch working on the Current Operations Team. During her time there she was an Operations Manager for various exercises and 12 missions one for which her team received the COTPER Honor for Response and Emergency Support Award in 2007. She later joined the DSNS Logistics Branch working on the CHEMPACK Program a nationwide initiative for the placement of nerve agent antidotes in local communities. In 2008 Allison was selected to develop a radiation forward deployment program (known as DTPA) based on her success as a CHEMPACK Team Lead for which her team received COTPER Honorable Mention for Customer Service. Upon completion of the DTPA program Allison’s team again received the COTPER Customer Service Award Honorable Mention in 2009 completing the program two months ahead of schedule. Her previous position was in the Center for Global Health in the Emergency Response and Recovery Branch as a team lead for Cooperative Agreements. During the reorganization in the Fall of 2023, her position was moved to Office of Readiness and Response, Division of Readiness and Response Science, Community-based Solutions and Health Equity Branch where she is serving as the acting Deputy Branch Chief.
