The Atlanta Public Schools Board of Education Student Advisory Council serves the 50,000 students in the district by making decisions on their behalf of them. We advise the Superintendent and Board of Education in their ability to create a better learning environment for the public and private schools in our district. Our board consists of 28 students from 15 high schools who have unique backgrounds in, age, gender, class, sexuality, and race. Being chosen to lead this council as Chairwoman has allowed me to hear from a vast amount of voices in interpreting what’s in the best interest of our peers relative to their curriculum, nutrition, mental health, and safety. It has also helped me to value opinions that differ from mine and use those perspectives to make better decisions personally and professionally. My peer community allows me the courage to continue my advocacy for educational equity because they portray hope for a future filled with leaders who are compassionate and humble, possess the intelligence level to identify the needs of others, and have the courage to act regardless of opposition.

-Collected data and helped allocate over $3 million to Atlanta Public Schools families suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic-Worked on unity and equity projects including co-creating, filming, and producing a documentary that highlighted inequities of student education, advocating for more opportunities.-Induced the development of the Atlanta Public Schools Center for Social Justice and Equity-Created a new framework for the Student Advisory Council for Atlanta Public Schools-Worked directly under the Superintendent and Chief of Equity for Atlanta Public Schools-Led an effort to expand student involvement in the Student Advisory Council across Atlanta Public Schools
