I formerly interned with Compassus Hospice as a Master's of Social Work student. I conducted visits to patients both in-home and in facilities such as hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and nursing homes. I was responsible for completing initial psychosocial assessments on my patients, setting up a plan of care for their duration with our hospice company, and collaborating with family members to provide quality and personal attention to each detail of the patient's preferences. I offered emotional support to all of my patients using techniques like active listening, therapeutic touch, and resource referral. I have experience with various state-regulated documentation including DNR forms, Medicaid and Veteran Benefit applications, and Department of Family and Child Services reports. Bereavement care is provided to the primary caregiver of each patient after their passing, and I conducted that bereavement care through visits, telephone calls, mailings, and counseling/other referrals.

As an intern at Peer Recovery, I was responsible for leading groups of 12+ individuals in curriculum based activities and classes related to enhancing and sustaining recovery from substance use disorders. I provided education on substance use disorders in addition to emotional support, resource connection, and collaboration with parole officers, therapists, and case workers. I documented all activities and classes for each client in a timely manner in our electronic health record system. In addition to spending time with clients, I also conducted Urinary Dialysis Screenings on each client weekly and input the results into clients' files.
