As Managing Director of The Nicholson Project, oversees all day-to-day management and play a key leadership role in stewarding our Artist Residency Program, gallery exhibitions, outdoor and community art activations, public programs, and more.

Awarded a Public Art Building Community Grant from the DC Commission on Arts and Humanities to convert an unused storefront into a contemporary storefront gallery--a contact-free, publicly accessible exhibition space in response to the art space closures during Covid-19. I oversaw and facilitated all exhibitions and associated programming in the Culture House Gallery, the Avant Garden, and the rest of the facility. I provided leadership for in-person and online programming, as well as content for recurring online offerings, and sought out collaborators for exhibitions and other short- and long-term programs. I worked closely with the Founder and Artistic Advisor to ensure strategic alignment between art programs and Culture House and coordinated Gallery and Avant Garden programs with the Culture House events teams.

In this position, I oversaw the planning and operations of the International Arts & Artists’ DC-based contemporary exhibition space. In 2017 I was promoted to expand this role to foster initiatives with partners throughout the city and surrounding region and to broaden artist-focused projects between Washington, DC and international counterparts. Key to this role was to develop and implement short and long-term goals in line with the organization’s mission of increasing cross-cultural understanding through access and exposure to the arts. Important functions included:• Facilitating regional and international artist selection and mentorship, and maintaining a rigorous exhibition schedule of 30-36 exhibitions annually;• Creating and presenting annually 80-100 public programs in partnership with artists, organizations and embassies; and Developing and maintaining partnerships in order to create a platform for robust dialogue that would present culturally diverse viewpoints; • Developing and maintaining a budget that supported operational and programmatic activities through diversifying revenue streams via government and foundation grants, individual donations, embassy and international partnerships, in-kind donations from local businesses, and earned revenue.

microWave project was a curatorial partnership that acted as a conduit between artists and businesses to provide space for pop-up exhibitions, primarily focused on site-specific installation art. I worked to find temporary space for artists to exhibit their work, typically at locations that would not usually exhibit work of contemporary artists. We promoted these artists and provided educational activities for the communities where these exhibitions were located.

As Gallery Director I oversaw planning and operations of the Target Gallery, the international exhibition space for the Torpedo Factory Art Center, which welcomed over 500k visitors annually. As Head of Outreach I developed key partnerships with local, regional, and national organizations to facilitate programs and activities that promoted community engagement by bringing in special projects to the art center as well as implementing artist-led projects throughout the city.

Responsibilities include providing administrative and management support to the Target Gallery Director, as well as meeting graphic design and social media needs for the Target Gallery, Marketing and Special Events departments, and organization-wide requirements.
