I attended Florida Gulf Coast University for my undergraduate degree, being a B.S in Biology. Currently I am working on my MBA there with a concentration in Management and Leadership. I am focused on a dental school path contingent with an orthodontic career plan.Throughout my undergraduate career, I had an internship at the Pediatric Dentistry of Florida, in which I was responsible for taking in patients and making sure all records were up to date. X-rays were taken of various oral sites for example bitewings and occlusal, as well as completion of panoramic x-rays. Sterilization of various dental tools was completed using the ultrasonic cleaner, alongside packaging materials into their desired sterilization pouches, working the autoclave, and putting the sterilized material back into the desired location. Routine cleanings were exercised on a mannequin for experience prior to assisting in actual patient cleanings and assisting with lap exams on younger patients.Further, I completed a shadowing opportunity at Solid Bite, a general and cosmetic dentistry that focused on dental implants, periodontics, and full dental rehabilitation. I shadowed both a Cosmetic Dentist and a board-certified Oral Surgeon. I worked in the sterilization room and interacted with various patients, learned the names of different tools alongside their uses, as well as how to complete cleanings, fillings, crowns, and bridges. Observation of numerous cosmetic gum surgeries in order to fix gummy smiles or teeth that appeared too long was also completed.Regarding undergraduate research, I was a research student at the FGCU Marieb College of Health & Student Services. Tasks included leading a research study regarding oral health amongst FGCU students, alongside the sociocultural factors that can have a potential effect. A survey was designed and sent out to FGCU students in which they answered questions related to their oral health prior to and during college. Data was computed in Microsoft Excel and analyzed to find a correlation between one’s oral health status and various sociocultural that can have an effect.Being the FGCU Pre-Dental Society President, I conducted monthly meetings for the members of the society, scheduled tabling events, and ran social media accounts. I was also in charge of scheduling volunteer opportunities to partake in, as well as arranging guest speakers to come speak during meetings. Sophomore year of college I was the Secretary of the Pre-Dental Society, junior year I became the Vice President, and senior year I became President.
