I always thought I'd become a teacher, so did most of my friends and family. But in High School I took my first Software Engineering class with Java and fell in love. It felt great finding my way through class assignments and seeing the end results immediately. It felt even better when my code started to evolve from spaghetti to an organized module that could easily be used in other projects.While I still enjoy helping and teaching people, I've just incorporated it in a different way. While I was taking my own classes in college for software engineering, I was helping other people pass their classes in coding as well. I enjoy talking to other people about solutions to tough problems and I love walking someone through code for the first time. When I got a Part Time Software Development role at Gordon Food Service, I felt like I had made the right choice in my college major. I worked on plenty of projects that were exciting, I even learned how to work with web development for the first time and enjoyed it more than just application development. My first big project was to take a part of code that was outdated and update it to the new standard. By doing this we were able to remove that old code and the old package which helped with creating more code readability and even helped improve build times.I love the impact I make and I enjoy troubleshooting bugs that come along too. I make people's lives easier through software development and I think that's pretty neat.
