Conducted research on the effects of hemorrhagic trauma to the endothelium of blood vessels, with the goal of improving Warfighter recovery and survival outcomes. Developed an in vitro, cell-based model of battlefield-induced endothelial injury. Presented research to the board and staff at the Battlefield Health and Trauma Research Institute.

Designed and prototyped an automated bioculture imaging facility to be used on the International Space Station to monitor real-time cell growth in cultures. Created and printed hardware designs in SolidWorks to assist in the customization of the device. Aided in optimizing differential dynamic microscopy used for observing macromolecular diffusion, which is now currently on flight hardware deployed on the International Space Station. Performed in vitro sample evaluation through microscopy to obtain data to optimize device imaging.

Aimed to observe apoptosis rates and quality of the tissues in heart valves as a result of myocardial events. Utilized imaging devices and analysis software to assess apoptosis rates of cardiac tissue at a variety of strain degrees to replicate cardiac events. Worked on prototyping and adjusting a mechanical cell stretching device for in vitro use.

Developed strong personal relationships with dogs through vocal affirmations, petting, and playing. Maintained clean and organized boarding and play areas to promote dog wellbeing. Executed teamwork and communication during pick-up and drop-off times to maintain a calm and organized setting.
