As an Independent Living Skills Specialist, I get the opportunity to work with physically and mentally disabled adults and teenagers who seek independence and fulfillment in their lives. I was promoted to this position from a Behavioral Specialist where I worked with clients with target behaviors, such as non-compliance, verbal and physical aggression. Watching clients progress and become more independent despite their disabilities is incredibly rewarding. Equally rewarding is working in the field of mental health and addiction/substance abuse. I'm a current Chemical Dependency student and have gotten the great opportunity to expand my knowledge and utilize my skills as an LADC intern at Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. My past experience with this company includes: Addiction Technician, Administrative Assistant with the Family Program and Office Assistant. Being able to move into various positions within a medical and mental health facility has equipped me with skills that include: patient care, administrative and front desk operations, medical knowledge, crisis intervention, and effective communication. I maintain a patient-centered approach at all times while keeping in mind cultural differences. I'm truly passionate about providing excellent patient care and customer service as I continue to move forward with my career. I utilize my positive attitude and dedicated work ethic to form strong professional relationships with both patients and fellow employees alike.Specialties: patient care, customer service, organization, scheduling, chemical dependency, medical terminology, administration, multitasking, communication, orientation, team player.
