My primary responsibility as a part of the Drought Watch team was to perform QA/QC on daily national temperature and precipitation data. When this data was verified and accurate, drought maps were created and uploaded to the public government website in order to provide farmers and other stakeholders with critical information related to their crops. Past seasons' temperature and precipitation data were updated as more information became available to ensure record accuracy.As a part of the Climate Risks Committee, I took part in compiling and editing reports which presented the Agriculture Minister with up to date information on the nation's most pressing climate related risks to crop health.

During this summer student employment term, I had many responsibilities which included: archiving water survey data, updating survey marker location maps, data verification, and uploading data to public government websites. Organization and attention to detail were important factors in every task I completed.

As a Silviculutre Supervisor, I ensured that the safety, quality, and production targets were met by the contractors who were under my supervision. Contractors under my supervision included site preparation machines (disc trenches, skidders with chain implements, skidders with roller implements), as well as survey contractors. Determining pay amounts, pay rates, and quality bonuses, was necessary on a weekly basis for up to seven contractors. Tracking completed work and assigning new work areas was an ongoing task, as well as creating GIS maps detailing completed site preparation areas. Effective planning and communication was a daily necessity.
