About Jesse Allison

I am a hybrid composer and technologist – a creative catalyst in ways that technology can expand what is possible in the sonic and interactive arts. As a sonic artist, my work and research has been disseminated around the globe through live performance art, interactive installations, virtual and hybrid world experiences, publications and presentations. I've explored experimental music technology and practice for the past quarter century pioneering approaches in sensor interfaces, interactive software, embedded devices, distributed performance, and experiential sonic art. At LSU I've disseminated this knowledge by through the Experimental Music & Digital Media program, a space to develop the experimental music practice of students at all levels. I have also developed the statewide LSU STEM Pathway in Digital Design & Emergent Media, a collection of courses, teacher training and support for high quality high school curricula integrating the arts and technology. Technology should be used to create wonderful things. It is our call as educators to provide the agency to do so.
