About Allison Mcdougal
I am a teacher and editor with an absolute passion for the written word. Whether it’s a blessing or a curse, I can’t read anything without applying a hawkeyed analysis of the text. And, with the increase in online content, marketing, and advertising, producing effective and error-free writing is more important now than any other time in history.I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in English and my Master's in Teaching (English Education), serving in five different schools throughout my internships and four full-time teaching positions. Additionally, I worked as a ministry assistant for nearly two years, exercising and growing skills in communications, volunteer coordination, and event planning. In total, I have taught and mentored more than 500 students at various levels of comprehension, training them to leverage the numerous styles, voices, and methods to creatively (and powerfully) express themselves in writing.Focusing extensively on spelling, grammar, methods, and mechanics, I led instruction in persuasive writing, factual reporting, web-based research, and the use of emotionally-driven language. I have proofread, evaluated, and edited COUNTLESS articles, essays, and reports, providing suggestions and encouraging my students to more effectively convey their message—whether through condensed text (when brevity is needed) or expanded content for longer writing assignments. In supporting the goals of our administrative leadership, I developed a teacher webpage, including all content, graphics, and design. I also partnered with staff to develop and edit our English teaching content. With such a demanding workload, I have developed a keen ability to manage and complete writing and editing projects within extremely tight deadlines.
