I worked for a start-up specializing in distribution center design and automation. Here's a taste of what I did day-to-day, since I was a bit of a generalist:Leading project teams starting from concept strategy, design development, manufacturing, implementation, and testing of robotic ASRS and conveyor systems. (I love working on automation!) Acting as a trusted advisor to the client.Getting my hands dirty - guiding operations teams through system testing and teaching training for implementations. Developing and piloting strategy for quality testing and acceptance testing.Interpreting and presenting data with meaning - processing historical data in SQL to understand customer behaviors and how they are impacting a business, or to better understand how equipment is performing Writing technical manuals, modeling problems in VBA, creating cloud networking solutions, and even designing graphics in Photoshop. Overall, my position entailed working closely with clients, project management, mathematical modeling, programmatic simulation, and mechanical design.My favorite bits of this position were 1) relationship building and 2) storytelling with data.

I worked as an engineer in the test lab.Some of my responsibilities included working with product teams to develop and execute product test plans. This entailed both mechanical, electrical, environmental, and photometry testing to ensure products met the appropriate certifications and quality marks.

This was with the Hardware Test Lab Group. I specifically interned with the Dynamics lab.This position provided me with exposure to engineering roles in reliability testing, specifically shock and vibration.A taste of what I worked on:Coming up with end-to-end solutions for the Dynamics Lab. This has entailed building custom tools, from initial mechanical design, to integrating electrical components and writing software from scratch.
