Dr. O'Mara specializes in providing rehabilitation services for individuals who are adapting to traumatic brain injuries, strokes, tumors, and other neurological conditions. At the Barrow Neurological Institute- Center for Transitional Neurorehabilitation (CTN) she provided individual and group psychotherapy, neuropsychological assessment, and cognitive retraining. This program emphasizes a holistic, milieu-oriented approach to outpatient treatment with an interdisciplinary team that includes physical therapists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, dieticians, psychiatrists, and recreational therapists. The focus of the treatment is on promoting independence in both the home and community.During her time at CTN, Dr. O'Mara was involved in leading special projects, including coordinating with the BIAAZ Unmasking Brain Injury program and tailoring services to include patients with pre-existing psychiatric diagnoses to later be integrated into the full program curriculum. Dr. O'Mara provided supervision for post-doctoral residents in the APPCN Neuropsychology Residency Program and was involved in the creation of the Rehabilitation Psychology Residency Program at the Barrow Neurological Institute.

Dr. O'Mara worked with patients with various disorders such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord, injury stroke, encephalopathies, neurodegenerative and demyelination diseases such as multiple sclerosis, brain and spinal tumors. Primary duties included assessing psychological and neuropsychological functioning, forming therapeutic alliances with and provide evidence-based treatments to patients and families, collaborating with rehabilitation team members, and facilitating patients’ participation in rehabilitation therapies and nursing care. Dr. O'Mara also completed rotations in the Concussion Clinic (neuropsychological evaluations) and in Pain Psychology (pain management interventions with patients with chronic pain such as headaches, orthopedic injuries and other chronic health problems).
