About Allison Pierce
Four years ago, I made an academic advising meeting to change my major from philosophy and apply to the Hussman School of Journalism and Media. A year later, I made another meeting to add political science as a double major. I had no idea what I wanted to do, but I knew what I was interested in. Continuing on the path of doing what I found interesting, I applied to intern with the local MiLB team in Winston-Salem, NC. I had never thought about working in sports, but the Dash was always a fun summer night, and I grew up an avid sports fan. After that internship, I finally knew not only what I was interested in but what type of career I wanted to pursue. I began to take classes like Sports Advertising and Sports Communication to immerse myself in the industry. I went to sporting events with a new appreciation of all the behind-the-scenes. I followed teams on social media knowing what it’s like to press post on the final score. Throughout college, I have been lucky enough to make choices based simply on what I enjoy doing. Working with a priority of enjoyment has allowed me to be my most creative, dedicated and inspired. I hope to continue on this path of loving what I do by working in the sports industry after graduation.
