Allison graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, West Virginia, in 2005.That Fall, Allison began her legal studies at the West Virginia University College of Law. While at WVU College of Law, Allison was a member of the Marlyn E. Lugar Trial Association, serving as its Vice President her third year. She also traveled to Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as a member of, respectively, Steptoe & Johnson's ABA Labor and Employment Section trial team and Lugar's Texas Young Lawyers Association trial team. Since 2011, Allison has taught domestic relations, torts, business law, and ethics.Allison is also a member of the Harrison County Child Abuse Task Force, the Facilitator of the Harrison County Court Advisory Council, and a member of the West Virginia Citizen Review Panel. Each Spring, Allison volunteers as a coach for the Braves in the Bridgeport Little League Challenger Division, which is a program that assists differently-abled children in playing baseball. Allison is also a volunteer in the United Hospital Center Cuddler Program.
